I am seeking crowdfunding for #TalkShop - a micro-blogging & News Syndication app designed for online communities. Contribute generously to help build this App NOW!


#TalkShop is a subscription based, micro-blogging & News Syndication app for online communities. The UI elements are "inspired" from Xwitter but I am NOT building an alternative to Xwitter. #TalkShop is designed from the ground up to serve as a foundation for building online communities. The idea is to build a space for folks to express themselves more freely within community spaces.

The first online community will be a Forum for Aviation Geeks - people who like to Follow and discuss Aviation related News. More Communities will be built and integrated in the coming months. Other Communities in the Pipeline are forums for Over-Landing, Stock Market investment for various countries and Refugees among others. The list of communities is based on responses I received to #TalkShop posts on Xwitter expressing interest. The list will continue to evolve in the future.

Crowd Funding

A social project like #TalkShop should NEVER be funded by VCs! VC funding requires the founders to play the Valuation game that would directly put pressure on our ideal to build this app on the Pull model. #TalkShop will have to be funded entirely by crowd-funding!

Contributions can be made using the BuyMeACoffee link. The first 300 donors contributing $25 and above will receive Free access for life. The next 1000 donors will receive Free access for 2 years. Contributions can be anonymous but do leave your email so I can send you the access links to the Beta.

The site will run in Beta mode for first 3-4 months. In this period, no new subscriptions will be accepted.  In the Beta period, Donors/Founding Members can post and use the site as the new Features get added. Online Payments and new subscriptions will be activated after the Beta phase.

 Key features:

  • #TalkShop will be a paid subscription service with pricing starting at $25/year and going upto $60/year. Posts on the App and Communities will always be publicly accessible but engaging with the Content will be restricted to Paid Subscribers only.
  • We will not have any advertising on the platform and will be run entirely on subscription revenue.
  • Since we don't depend on Advertising Revenue, we are free to remain committed to Free Speech and stay true to our ideal of always following the Pull model.
  • NEWS Syndication Service will provide a news feed with original links to current story. The NSS will provide a Bias Index as well as Reliability Index for every story. #TalkShop will never filter out any News Source - I leave that to the discretion of the User.
  • Subscribers will be able to express themselves through Public Posts on their Timeline in under 256 characters. The character limit on Community Posts will be restricted to 1024 characters or less. 
  • 1 URL and up to 4 images can be uploaded with every post.
  • Up to 5 subscribers can be "tagged" in every post. Only subscribers who follow you can be tagged in your posts.
  • Premium Subscribers will also get space for their personal blog with a custom URL for more long form articles. Premium subscriptions are not available in Beta mode.
  • #TalkShop will work on the "Pull" model in contrast to other apps like Xwitter/Bsky that follow the "Push" model. Algos wont control what the User sees. Our Feed will ALWAYS be organic - delivered in the order it was posted.
  • #TalkShop is committed to Free Speech and will NOT suppress any content! The only restrictions will be on posts encouraging violence, sexual assault/r*pe, child p**nography, trafficking. 
  • #TalkShop will not push any narrative. People will be free to express themselves and People will be free to pull only the Content they like to see.
  • #TalkShop will enable users to block any User they do not wish to engage with. Your public posts will still be visible but blocked users will not be able to engage with those posts anymore.
  • The app will have a more holistic approach to "Moderation" on Community Forums. Posts on Community Forums can never be deleted by trigger-happy moderators! Posts that go off-topic or Abusive will be "detached" from Community threads, but they will still be visible as Public Posts on the User Timelines.
